“All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous in the end”.
In May of 2020, during the global pandemic, we made a huge decision. After much reflection and lots of deep conversations, we made the bold choice to move three hours away so we could be closer to our daughter and her family. Four years ago today, after a messy and rather crazy time with a moving company we settled into our new home.
If we look at life as an adventure, even when things aren’t going as planned, we become open to the blessings and the gifts the Universe has brought upon us. Even though our move was rather traumatic (as the company wouldn’t release our belongings until we paid three times what they quoted us!!), once the dust settled, our hearts were still so filled with gratitude to be starting a new chapter in our lives.
It’s been an ongoing journey of big and small changes, surprises and challenges, and lots of introspection, personal transformations and evolutionary growth. And…I wouldn’t have it any other way! It all started with one discussion and then one pivotal decision. And since that moment, I knew we our decision to move was the right one. And that feeling of being ‘home’ has never left me.
Fall is such a symbolic time of year with the change in weather and it’s colourful landscape. The leaves are teaching us to let go and just be, in preparations for the stillness of winter that is sneaking up on us.
Even though change can be hard at first and messy in the middle, chances are it’s always going to be worth it in ways we didn’t even realize until they are revealed to us in their full colour. And once we see the blessings, our hearts burst with joy knowing it’s all going to be ok…because it’s gorgeous in the end.
